I’m not THAT brave…
People call me brave for sharing about my eating disorder. Personally I dont think choosing to heal ones self is brave. Sharing my story started more for my own benefit then to document any type of transformation. Writing helps me process emotions and motivate myself. Some of my most inspirational posts according to followers actually come from some of my lowest points in life.
People get angry or frustrated with me when they want the secrets to weightloss and what diet im doing. I’m anti diet. Im pro health. Diets dont work for those with eating disorders like food addiction and binge eating.
The secret to weightloss is to heal your mind.
The truth is most people especially women deal with some level of eating disorder or body image issues.
You may not be the cause of your issues but it’s still your responsibility to heal and move forward. If that’s what you truely want in life.
When I was trying to “fix” myself I made choices out of self hate and often weren’t good for me. I let people use me. Abuse me. Take advantage of me. I made bad or risky choices for myself.
When I was learning to love myself I started making choices that empowered me and benefited my health.
When those people saw that I raised my own standards they quickly exited left along with a lot of self doubt and negative self talk that had been fuel by them.
Theres no shame in learning and growing. Share your story. Help others see they aren’t alone. They may end up learning something from you that could have taken them years to discover on their own.
